The Small Groups Ministry of Light House Church

Why Lifeboats?  Three main reasons why LHC has small groups are:

  1. To Be Like Jesus.
  2. To Grow In Jesus.
  3. To Advance The Kingdom of Jesus.

By design then, each lifeboat is built on and will operate by a focus on L.I.F.E.

Learning the Word of God together.

If we are ever going to make disciples we need to learn God’s Word.  The Bible is the only rule of faith and conduct for the believer.  2 Timothy 3:17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Interceding for each other and the church.

Prayer is absolutely essential for the believer and the church.  Each Lifeboat will prioritize and maintain prayer for each other and the church as a whole.  Luke 11:1 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”  1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing.

Fellowship that builds each other up in the most holy faith.

We need each other and sitting in a chair staring at the back of someone’s head listening to a preacher for an hour is not enough to build each other up.  In a small group we will grow in faith, love and service.  Acts 2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.  Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Engaging in obedience, service and evangelism.

Each Lifeboat will strive to not only learn, but also put into practice the teaching of Jesus and God’s Word. James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
